Necklace photography without the retouching
A chain is a hundred small highlights, and every one of them catches the room. Whether you shoot flat lays or a pendant on a bust, the background is the part that should take the least time.

4:5 crops tight on a pendant for social, 1:1 keeps the whole length for a marketplace thumbnail, 3:2 works for a banner.
Shooting chains without tangles
Lay the necklace on a plain surface and straighten the chain from the clasp outwards. Shoot straight down to avoid foreshortening, and keep the pendant flat. If the chain curls, tape the ends outside the frame rather than editing them out later.
Getting the metal tone right
Yellow gold, rose gold and silver are easy to shift with the wrong light. Shoot in indirect daylight with a neutral surface — not on a coloured tablecloth — so the model sees the metal as it actually is.

You can, but the instruction should name the one that matters. Single-piece photos give the most consistent listings.
Does it work for a pendant on a model?
Yes. Describe the background change only, and lower the edit strength if skin or fabric starts to shift.
